Cooler Neighborhoods Advisory Council

We have formed an Advisory Council to help us implement this project as seamlessly as possible. The Advisory Council will provide a wide range of perspectives, solve barriers to tree plantings and community outreach, and help develop a workable strategic plan.

Members will help build the Community Forums and Trust Hubs, find locations for meetings and tree plantings, and identify candidates for part-time work.

Strategic Planning
By 2030, we will expand tree planting activities that have the potential to achieve 40% tree canopy in 6 selected Justice 40 neighborhoods.

Achieved through:

● Gathering data on the scope, need, and methods for tree plantings and maintenance;

● Hosting a series of meetings involving the Advisory Council, project staff, community members, and project participants; and

● Featuring ideal planting areas, best methods for community engagement, and effective training protocols.

We will have a draft plan ready by September 2026 for discussion, adjustment, and buy-in. Our project will be a small part of achieving the City’s overall 40% canopy goal, so we want to create a guide for future efforts.

Thank you to our Cooler Neighborhoods Supporters!
