Community Education & Engagement

We want your input!

We’re eager to hear what community members have to say about this project. A list of meeting dates, times, and locations will be published shortly. Use the form below to request notification.

To implement Recommendation 25 from the Climate Response and Resilience Report (Increase the county forest canopy by 10% over current levels), Mobilize Frederick received a grant from the Maryland Forest Service’s Community Forestry Catalyst Fund. With this funding, Mobilize Frederick will implement a pilot project focusing on expanding Frederick’s workforce development in priority census tracts. We will hire 18 people to plant 240 trees throughout 2025 and 2026, culminating in a strategic plan that aligns with the City of Frederick’s goal of achieving 40% tree canopy by 2030. This work will be supported by various community partners to support the project’s longevity.

What are Community Forums?
Community Forums will be spaces for listening, learning, sharing, and collaborating with other residents and stakeholders to help build our pilot project and strategic plan. Mobilize Frederick will host these public forums in public spaces multiple times throughout 2025 and 2026.
These forums will be an opportunity to teach the value of trees, discuss problems and solutions, identify community assets, and recruit for Trust Hubs and part-time paid positions.

What are Trust Hubs?
Trust Hubs will consist of “trusted messengers” who are identified to act as community liaisons between residents and Mobilize Frederick. Trust Hubs will work closely with us to relay information to the community and provide insight on best practices in their neighborhoods.
These trusted messengers will be created with help from the Advisory Council and Community Forum participants.
