Green Ambassadors (formally Green Leaders) volunteer with MAEOE to serve as dedicated guides for the Maryland Green Schools program. An integral part of the certification process, Green Ambassadors are from various backgrounds who aim to improve the sustainability of schools and their communities.  

 

In particular, Green Ambassadors:

• become familiar with the requirements of the Maryland Green Schools program;

• assist schools with developing a plan to meet the objectives of the Green Schools application;

• connect schools with resources;

• facilitate community partnerships; 

• support schools with the online application process;

• volunteer at the annual Youth Summit; 

• contribute as a Green Schools Reviewer.

 

MAEOE trains Green Ambassadors and Mobilize Frederick pairs them with schools to mentor and guide them through their unique Green School journey. In some cases, Green Ambassadors make the initial contacts with a school community to introduce them to the Green Schools program and its benefits.
