Joyce Bailey
BOARD MEMBER
Joyce Bailey has worked for many years educating people about the causes and challenges of our rapidly warming planet due to anthropogenic climate change. She taught for Montgomery County Public School for 26 years, teaching elementary, middle and high school as well as workshops for adults. As Director of the Global Ecology Magnet Program at Poolesville High School she taught AP environmental science, biology, and chemistry.
Joyce has extensive experience in designing and implementing educational experiences in the classroom and the field. She has a Master’s Degree in Environmental Biology from Hood College and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Maryland. She is a founding member of Sustainable Barnesville, a board member of the Piedmont Environmental Educational Foundation and a Maryland Master Naturalist.
Joyce was a member of Montgomery County’s Clean Energy Work Group on Policy and Regulation, served as a board member and Climate Liaison for Montgomery Countryside Alliance, was a member of the Climate Justice Wing of the Maryland Legislative Coalition and completed Maryland Climate Leadership training given by the Association of Climate Change Officers.
